Calculations for Footing Plain Cement Concrete
Calculations for Footing Plain Cement Concrete
The dimensions of the PCC bed depend upon the size of the footing. As we have the given length of footing = 1.2m & width = 1.4m. The length and width of PCC will be determined by adding 100mm at either end of each dimension
Calculations for Footing PCC
Length of PCC = Length of footing + 0.1m + 0.1m &
Width of PCC = Width of footing + 0.1m + 0.1m
Length of PCC = 1.2 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 1.4m
Width of PCC = 1.4 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 1.6m
The thickness of PCC will also be taken as 100mm i.e, 0.1m
Quantity of concrete:
Volume of concrete = Length x width x Depth = 1.4 x 1.6 x 0.1 = 0.224mยณ
It should be noted that this volume is the wet volume of the concrete. So we need to convert this wet volume to dry volume by multiplying the wet
volume by a constant of 1.54.
Dry volume = wet volume x 1.54
Dry volume = 0.224 x 1.54 = 0.344mยณ
The volume of Cement:
Volume of Cement = (ratio of Cement/total ratio) x (Dry volume)
Volume of Cement = (1/7) x (0.344) = 0.049mยณ
Number of Cement bags required = volume of Cement/volume of 1 bag of cement
[volume of 1bag = 0.035mยณ]Number of Cement bags = 0.049/0.035 = 1.4 bags
The volume of sand:
Volume of sand = (ratio of sand/total ratio) x (dry volume)
= (2/7) (0.344) = 0.098mยณ
The volume of aggregate:
Volume of aggregate = (ratio of aggregate/total ratio) x (dry volume) = (4/7) (0.344) = 0.19mยณ
Shuttering Area
Shuttering Area = Peripheral Area of PCC = Area of 4 sides
= (Length x Depth) + (Width x Depth) + (Length x Depth) + (Width x Depth)
= 2(Length x Depth) + 2(Width x Depth) = 2Depth (Length + Width) = 2 x 0.1(1.4 + 1.6) = 0.6 m2
Bitumen paint Area
Bitumen paint Area = Peripheral area of PCC + (Top area of PCC – Top/bottom area of footing)
= 0.6 + {(1.4 x 1.6) – (1.2 x 1.4)} = 1.16 m2
Polythene sheet
Polythene sheet = Length x width m2
= 1.4 x 1.6 = 2.24 m2
Termite Control
Termite area = Length x width m2
