Calculations for Footing Plain Cement Concrete<\/h1>\n\n\n

The dimensions of the PCC bed depend upon the size of the footing. As we have the given length of footing = 1.2m & width = 1.4m. The length and width of PCC will be determined by adding 100mm at either end of each dimension<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calculations for Footing PCC<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Length of PCC<\/strong> = Length of footing + 0.1m + 0.1m &<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Width of PCC<\/strong> = Width of footing + 0.1m + 0.1m<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Length of PCC<\/strong> = 1.2 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 1.4m<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Width of PCC<\/strong> = 1.4 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 1.6m<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thickness of PCC will also be taken as 100mm i.e, 0.1m<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quantity of concrete:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volume of concrete<\/strong> = Length x width x Depth = 1.4 x 1.6 x 0.1 = 0.224m\u00b3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that this volume is the wet volume of the concrete. So we need to convert this  wet volume to dry volume by multiplying the wet <\/p>\n\n\n\n

volume by a constant of 1.54.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dry volume<\/strong> = wet volume x 1.54<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dry volume<\/strong> = 0.224 x 1.54 = 0.344m\u00b3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The volume of Cement:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volume of Cement<\/strong> = (ratio of Cement\/total ratio) x (Dry volume)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volume of Cement<\/strong> = (1\/7) x (0.344) = 0.049m\u00b3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number of Cement bags required<\/strong> = volume of  Cement\/volume of 1 bag of cement<\/p>\n\n\n\n[volume of 1bag = 0.035m\u00b3] <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number of Cement bags<\/strong> = 0.049\/0.035 = 1.4 bags<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The volume of sand:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Volume of sand<\/strong> = (ratio of sand\/total ratio) x  (dry volume)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

= (2\/7) (0.344) = 0.098m\u00b3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The volume of aggregate:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volume of aggregate<\/strong> = (ratio of aggregate\/total ratio)  x (dry volume) = (4\/7) (0.344) = 0.19m\u00b3<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shuttering Area<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Shuttering Area = Peripheral Area of PCC = Area of 4 sides<\/p>\n\n\n\n

= (Length x Depth) + (Width x Depth) + (Length x Depth) + (Width x Depth)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

= 2(Length x Depth) + 2(Width x Depth) = 2Depth (Length + Width) = 2 x 0.1(1.4 + 1.6) = 0.6 m2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitumen paint Area<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitumen paint Area<\/strong> = Peripheral area of PCC +  (Top area of PCC – Top\/bottom area of footing) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

= 0.6 + {(1.4 x 1.6) – (1.2 x 1.4)} = 1.16 m2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polythene sheet<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polythene sheet<\/strong> = Length x width m2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              = 1.4 x 1.6 = 2.24 m2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n
