{"id":1432,"date":"2017-01-23T14:44:33","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T09:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/onlinecivilforum.com\/site\/?p=1432"},"modified":"2022-12-13T11:34:12","modified_gmt":"2022-12-13T06:04:12","slug":"foundation-structural-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlinecivilforum.com\/site\/foundation-structural-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundation Structural Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foundation is a part of structure which interfaces the superstructure to the adjacent zone of soil or rock below it.<br \/>\nThe purpose of having a foundation is to transfer the superstructure loads to the underlying soil or rock without overstressing the soil or rock.<\/p>\n<p>Placing the footing at a sufficient depth that the soil beneath the footing is confined. If silt or sand is not confined, it will roll out from the footing perimeter with a loss of density and bearing capacity.
