These may be continuous with rectangular or trapezoidal.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0 Combined\u00a0 footing\u00a0is used to support the load\u00a0 of\u00a0two or more adjacent columns.<\/p>\n<p>To have a uniform bearing pressure and\u00a0to minimize differential settlement between columns.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>When Combined Footings provided <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When the columns are nearer to each other so that their isolated footings overlaps.<\/p>\n<p>when\u00a0 the\u00a0bearing capacity of the soil\u00a0is lower and required more area under the individual footing.<\/p>\n<p>When one column is close to a property line or the Centre of gravity of column will not coincide with footing or dimensions of one side of footing are restricted to some lower value.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Combined\u00a0 footings become necessary under the following circumstances:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>when the isolated footings overlap.<\/li>\n<li>when the exterior column is close to the property line with the result symmetrical isolated footing cannot be provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/onlinecivilforum.com\/site\/category\/design-spreadsheets\/\">Collection of Design Excel Sheets<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>This type of footing is provided under following situations: <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When the columns are located extremely close to each other and their individual footings are overlapping.<\/p>\n<p>When the column end is situated near the property line and it is not possible to extend the footing area on the side of the property line.<\/p>\n<p>Bearing capacity of soil is so low.<\/p>\n<p>Area of footing = Total Load\/ Allowable Bearing Capacity of soil<\/p>\n<p>The main purpose of using combined footing is to distribute uniform pressure under the footing.
