Foam concrete, also known as foamed concrete, foamcrete, cellular lightweight concrete or reduced density concrete, is defined as a cement based slurry, with a minimum of 20% (per volume) foam entrained into the plastic mortar. As mostly no coarse aggregate is used for production of foam concrete the correct term would be called mortar instead of concrete. Sometimes it may be called as \u201cFoamed Cement\u201d or \u201cFoam Cement\u201d because of mixture of only Cement & Foam without any fine aggregate. The density of foam concrete usually varies from 400 Kg\/m\u00b3 to 1600 Kg\/ m\u00b3. The density is normally controlled by substituting fully or part of the fine aggregate with foam.<\/p>\n

one of the most basic uses of foam concrete is for roof insulation as shown in the figure below:<\/h2>\n

\n1. Structural Slab
\n2. Lightweight Foamed Concrete laid to falls (50 – 200 mm or more)
\n3. Sand Cement Screed (20 mm)
\n4. Waterproof membrane
\n5. Mortar
\n6. Tiles (cement or mosaic, spaced for expansion joint with sealant)<\/p>\n
