(For fire resistance).<\/b><\/p>\n When you start working at site, the cover that needs to be provided will be main concern. (This is from my personal experience)<\/p>\n Know some properties of materials as per the code.<\/b><\/p>\n The nominal maximum size of course aggregates<\/b> should not be greater that 1\/4th of the thickness of member<\/b>. (Refer to the clause 5.3.3 of IS 456:2000<\/b> for more details.)<\/p>\n Modulus of elasticity of steel <\/b>Es can be taken as 200Kn\/m2 <\/b>(Refer to the clause 5.6.3 of IS 456:2000<\/b> for more details.)<\/p>\n Modulus of elasticity of concrete<\/b> Ec = 5000 \u221afck<\/b><\/p>\n where fck is Characteristic compressive strength of concrete in 28 days.<\/p>\n (Refer to the clause 6.2.1 of IS 456:2000<\/b> for more details.)<\/p>\n Unless more accurate calculations are warranted, the unit weights of plain concrete and reinforced concrete<\/b> made with sand and gravel or crushed natural stone aggregate may be taken as 24 kN\/m3 and 25 kN\/m3 respectively<\/b>.<\/p>\n (Refer to the clause 19.2 of IS 456:2000<\/b> for more details.)<\/p>\n Span to Depth ratio of beams are very important.<\/p>\n (Refer to the clause 23.2.1 of IS 456:2000<\/b> for more details.)<\/p>\n Basics of Limit stress and working stress design<\/b> are important. Just go through those clauses once in a while. You\u2019ll at least know where to find the information required.<\/p>\n These all came to my mind after seeing the question.
